Court Operations Notice:

Effective June 6, 2022, the court's phone hours are Mon-Fri 10:00am-4:00pm. For faster service, please email the court at nccounter@nccourt.net for the Nevada City clerk's office and trcounter@nccourt.net for the Truckee clerk’s office. Due to staffing challenges, please expect longer wait times for processing of your documents.

COVID-19 Information:

Alert:

Do not visit any Nevada County Courthouse if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19; have had direct exposure to someone known to have COVID-19; or if you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, such as fever, cough, headache or shortness of breath. Instead, contact your attorney or call the court at (530) 362-4309 to arrange an alternative.

Self Surrender Warrants

Nevada City

If you have an active warrant that was issued out of the Nevada City Courthouse, you must appear as indicated below to clear your warrant. A personal appearance in court is required before any warrant is removed from the warrant system. If you have both Felony and Misdemeanor warrants, follow the process for Felony cases below.

Misdemeanor cases are heard every Wednesday at 11:00am.

You must check in at the Criminal Department front counter prior to 10:00 a.m. to be seen in court that day. If you arrive after 10:00 a.m. you will be required to come back on a different Wednesday.

Felony cases are heard every Thursday at 1pm.

You must check in at the Criminal Department front counter prior to 11:00 a.m. to be seen in court that day. If you arrive after 11:00 a.m. you will be required to come back on a different Thursday.

Truckee

If you have an active warrant that was issued out of the Truckee Courthouse, you must appear as indicated below to clear your warrant or have it removed from the warrant system.

Misdemeanors and Felony Cases: Mondays at 8:30 a.m.

Check in at the Truckee front counter between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. If you arrive after 8:30 a.m., you will be required to come back on a different Monday.
